Monday

went shopping this morning and resisted the urge to buy more art canvases and paints....difficult....but I really must use up what I already have first.
Came home and after lunch I managed to paint two more fantasy aceos.....
I have finished the daily listing club on etsy and tomorrow I start the one on Folksy........I just hope that it brings in more sales....at the moment ebay is winning hands down

Had my usual Saturday lie in today and then when I eventually got up we went shopping.......
I am off to get fish and chips shortly and then watching xfactor, so I doubt if I will get any painting done today. SOOO...here is one I did earlier...lol

Friday

today we are going shopping as we haven't been out all week....been too busy painting and catching up on paperwork..... I still like the idea of hibernating until May next year !! It is getting more and more chilly in the mornings and this morning I took this picture from my front room window... Swansea is UNDERNEATH that mist !!....we are above it......it looks very spooky out there !!

Thursday

I managed to get 7 paintings done today......I am quite pleased with that...I might even get some more done this evening. Tomorrow we are going shopping, so I doubt if I will get any done then until the weekend.
I picked up another nail outside today...this is a real mystery. ...so far I have picked up 13 masonry nails from by the front door....most of them are new and unused and some days there are none there....some days there are 2......We have checked the roof and can't see anything wrong....and nothing wrong at the front of the house where the nails keep appearing.....we have NO idea where they are coming from....our only guess left is that perhaps Magpies are picking them up and dropping them, though why they are always in the same place baffles us......We certainly have a lot of magpies in the garden...along with squirrels, badgers, foxes...etc....but Magpies, seem the most likeley.

Wednesday

watched the art programmed on Create and craft today and it is so refreshing to watch an artist teach people to paint...especially one who makes things easy so that ANYONE can have a go. I hate all the purists who tell you that "you can't do this," or "you can't do that"...art is doing what inspires you and what you enjoy. To me, there are NO rights and wrongs and if you enjoy painting that that is the most important thing...it doesn't matter how brilliant your work is...ALL work is brilliant...

today I managed to take a photo of my larger watercolour. The photo is a bit dark on the right hand side but I am quite pleased with it. Now to sort out how much to ask for it on ebay...
I already have the hard backed envelopes in the hope that I will soon be posting it off somewhere.

a bit colder today but I still had a nice lie in......had three sales out of four on ebay so that is good.....I hope to have time to paint tonight but also want to watch xfactor......

Saturday

a nice day today....quite a bit of sunshine and a bit warmer as well.
I had my usual Saturday lie in and then took pics of my larger paintings. They are still small compared to other people's work but I am working on that....the one that I have show here is only 7" x 5" and on canvas board.
I have been having a few conversations with other artists and creative people to see if it is better to paint what OTHER people want and are likely to buy or to paint what I enjoy and then hope for customers with similar tastes , find me.
I love fantasy and I love anything purple, especially with a touch of glitter and so that is what I have been doing in the last few days. I quite like doing the landscapes, but green and brown just isn't ME !!
This painting is going on ebay this evening and will be there for 7 days at £9.99 I think that is a fair price for something that took me a few hours. I just hope it sells. Friday

went to town today and decided to buy a shopping trolley...now I really look like a little old lady...lol. I am fed up with carting heavy shopping around with me....even my handbag feels like a suitcase...I always end up struggling back to the car.....NO MORE.....It was great to go into Tesco and just pull my trolley along. I never park in Tesco's car park...it is always difficult to find a space and there are far too many accidents. Anyway, I have a free parking space outside the Age Concern day centre but taking the Tesco trolley there is difficult as you have to cross two busy roads....much easier with my new trolley....
I managed to almost finish two larger abstract/fantasy acrylic paintings today. I still need to take photos of them but hope to list them next week.

Thursday

Today I attended a seminar in the Beach Hotel.....it was a very interesting experience.....the local CVS (council for voluntary services) wanted to know from local residents what they thought on health issues, transport and amenities etc......we started off with cups of tea and coffee followed by a free lunch....(mmm) then we all sat in groups and discussed our thoughts. We were there all day ....
Got home at about 5pm...so no time for painting today.......
Had two sales on etsy yesterday and one on ebay today, so all is going well

Yesterday I did 9 paintings...today I haven't found the time to do one....yet....
I have been doing some typing for our local Age Concern group...now called Age Cymru....(pronounced come ree)....It is almost time to start dinner...perhaps I can paint later. The paints are sitting next to me but no point in starting until after dinner......

Tuesday

Today, I have been experimenting with new ideas......As you are probably aware by now...I love tiny dots and blobs in my paintings and it has taken me a long time with experimenting to find a nice way to use them. I am sometimes torn between painting what people want to buy and what I like to paint. I have studied the Law of Attraction and it consistently says that you should follow your passion....which is fantasy.....and dots...lol....
So here is a bit of both in the painting that I did today

Monday

A blustery day here in South Wales, the wind is whipping up and blowing empty dustbins all over the road....
The sea is very choppy and Devon has disappeared from view......the cloud formations are beautiful....I never used to notice them until I started painting landscapes......
I think an evening in front of the tv painting is in order....

My Tesco delivery came at midday and NO Sunday newspaper....I phoned in the week and the lady at the help desk told me that she had added it to my shopping for me....nooooooooo...she didn't...so I had to get in the car and drive to go and get one....phew...got the last one just in time.......
Can't be doing with this fiasco every week....so am saving myself money and will have my groceries delivered mid week and go and get the paper myself....much cheaper....
I have just painted two canvases with a base colour ready for painting in the week.....

I was thrilled yesterday to find that I had been chosen as the featured artist on an encaustic website group that I belong to. ..especially as there are some fabulous artists on there.
Today I have spent most of the day cooking...I made Welsh cakes and the 3 minute microwave chocolate cake......just got to remember to cook dinner now...
No painting today and I doubt if I will have time this evening.....maybe tomorrow.

The painting continued today and I managed to another 8 encaustic pictures. That means that I have done 17 paintings in total this week....that is the most that I have done for ages.
I have an idea for a larger painting too but will have to leave that for next week,...in the mean time, here is one of the encaustic pictures that I did today...this one is an abstract

Thursday

I am having a good painting week this week...mainly because we have had to wait in for workment and so there is nothing to do but sit and paint...my excuse and I am sticking to it......
This is the first day for over a week when it hasn't rained.....however it is definitely getting colder now and dark when I get up in the morning....brrrr...
We had a new house alarm fitted today I now need a university degree in working the programmable board !!

Rumour has it that the rain might stop this week....no hope yet....
I decided today to have a go at some abstract painting. I often see paintings that I really like and I have noticed on tv that nearly every home/office scene has an abstract painting in it...so they must sell well.
I have a book which is called "painting abstracts" and contains a lot of lessons to follow. It is by Rolina van Vliet.....I used that to give me some ideas. The painting is 5" x 7"...here it is...

Tuesday

another dull day but not so much rain today......
Today I had to go to our local club...this is one that we organise and run and I usually make the tea....I know my place.
I have been studying paintings by other artists. I want to do some larger works and some abstracts...the difficulty is where to start.......I hope to do something tomorrow and get it online for sale. I know that we will be home all day tomorrow and so I might get time to get set up and ready to start.
I got my copy of Artist and Illustrator today...some very inspiring work in there. It will make some nice bed time reading.

another damp and cold day...a good day to paint....
I managed to get 3 aceos done this morning and I listed one on folksy....and another on etsy. Etsy has a group/team where there is a daily listing club....you have to sign up to list one item a day for the whole month...this is day 10....I hope it brings me more sales.

it is still raining...I wonder if it will ever stop. The idea of hibernating until next May becomes more and more appealing !! I have started some more landscape paintings. I usually do 4 or 5 at a time...doing all the skies and then the foregrounds.....
I had some good sales on ebay today but sorting everything out (admin) can be a nightmare. So many of my buyers like to wait to be invoiced, which is fine with me but I have to be careful not to get everything muddled up......I think the admin takes longer than the paintings !!

I am not quite sure where today has gone.....and I still haven't done any painting today...
The sunshine is back and it is warmer but very windy....the sea is glistening and the waves are crashing down.
I have been looking at some of the fantastic encaustic work on a dear friend's website and newsletter...very inspiring.....

Wednesday

Spent most of the afternoon chatting to Tesco on the phone....all I want is to have the mail on Sunday delivered but it was NOT online to order....it WAS last week...and it is on the main data base, but because it isn't showing up on mine, I could not order it. The shops are 3 miles away and if I have to drive the get the paper, then I might as well get my groceries at the same time....and of course get up early on Sunday before all the papers sell out.
I have to say that TESCO bent over backwards to help and they have added the paper to my shopping through THEIR end of things....well done Tesco !,....just hope it is listed for me for next week,....
That meant that i couldn't get my painting done today....never mind...here is one I did earlier...lol....

Tuesday

AFTER a lot of twiddling and bashing I managed to get the hot water back into the shower......so all seems to be ok now.
Started raining early and hasn't stopped all day...the sort of rain that you can't see but that gets you soaked !!
I hope to get some more painting done later.....I need to sell more in my etsy shop....it seems to be stagnant and so I have joined a daily listing club where you list an item every day for the whole of the month....no sales yet, but I live in hope...

We now have hot water again, thanks to a lovely young plumber. While he was here, the squirrel came in for his peanuts and the plumber recorded it on his mobile phone.

another beautiful day, so I sat doing some painting, with the patio doors wide open....had to feed the squirrel every five minutes.....they come into the house to get them and are only content when they have TWO in their mouth....if you just give them ONE, they just sit there waiting !!
