Saturday

I hope that anyone reading this will have a very happy, healthy and prosperous new Year. I have done two aceo paintings today and I have also ordered a new paintbrush which I hope will arrive some time late next week. Next year I want to do a lot of larger paintings which I will list in my etsy and folksy shops....and possibly some on ebay.....
All the time I am learning and comparing the paintings that I am doing now alongside to ones that I did a year ago, I can see the improvement...I hope to improve loads more...

Friday

well what a busy day today. I didn't wake until gone 10 30 am and since then have been rushing around doing all sorts of bits and bobs. I sold three more paintings today, which is great and I hope to get some more painting done later tonight.
I have also been looking at youtube art sites for inspiration....there are some wonderful artists on there.

a wet,grey and miserable day outside....so instead of going shopping we decided to stay in and I have painted two new aceos....I am hoping to list every day on one or more of my shops/websites....so if you like my work...check out theses links

seems very quiet everywhere today...so I started a new painting which I hope to finish later.

Boxing Day

a very quiet day today....I managed to finish off two small paintings and have started two more....at least I am ready to get going...lol
The family are still here and have been shopping today.....both my son and daughter had to get light bulbs for their cars...both had one light stop working yesterday....typical when there are no shops open !!.....

well Christmas is nearly here and I think we have done all that we need to do....we didn't do much shopping...after all, it is only ONE day !!!! In fact the shops were quiet today and not many people around, so either they were at work or have already left for other destinations.
I had a beautiful calendar from an artist friend in Oz today and she put on the bottom.
"Love what you paint, and others will love it too!"
That is going to be my motto for 2012.
I have often tried to paint in a style that I wasn't all that comfortable with and it never works....so now for next year, I am going with what "I" like to do and not what other people expect......if they don't like it then that is their loss and not mine.
I had two people comment on my artwork this week...both I am sure were well intentioned but sometimes criticism hurts...especially if you didn't ASK for it....one comment told me that I should find more of a focal point in my work and the other said  "This is one of your better paintings!"...which made it sound like the others were no good.....I am sure they didn't intend to hurt my feelings but they did. I felt like going back and telling them that I had loads of emails saying that people liked my work and that I had earned £1000 this year, selling my art. OK...so in the scheme of things that is not a lot, especially as that is the takings and I have to deduct expenses from that but it proves to me that there are people out there who like my work.
I never criticise other people's work as art to me is doing something that gives you pleasure and as the saying goes...beauty is in the eye of the beholder......

well I had another sale on etsy today...so that is 5 this month....etsy seems to be getting better than Folksy now...I also have a bid on a painting that finishes tonight on ebay...so all going well.
The cloud has just descended around the house and where I could see the sea 10 mins ago, now I can't even see the house next door.......a bit like a foggy day in London Town

well, at last two weeks of not having to get up at 6.....I shall enjoy chilling out...even though I shall still be doing housework (well...maybe not) and some painting and perhaps some card making.

Monday

The week before Christmas is here and thankfully no snow or ice here......lots of rain though...but we are used to all that  and the flowers love it....
A lot of artists have stopped listing now and closed their online shops for the holidays....I stay open. Last year I had a sale on Christmas day.....who knows who might come online...some people are alone and the pc is their companion.....so here are my links

Sunday

well, here I am again, chatting away to myself....first sign of madness......
I wonder where everyone is today.....hardly anyone on the folksy forums...they are either hibernating or doing last minute shopping......I'm for the hibernation option.....wake up when it is warmer.....
I have two more early starts and then my daughter is on holiday until January 4th, so lots of nice lie-ins....great.

I cannot believe, that despite the forecast we had NO SNOW....yesterday it started by saying it would snow....by the afternoon the forecast said it would be sleet....got up this morning and we had blue skies and sunshine (once it was no longer dark...lol)
The whole day was ok and not a flake of snow here......
I managed to get to Morrisons and get my copy of Artists and Illustrators.......I particularly wanted to get it as there is an article in it about aceos....I also managed to get 6 paintings done while my hubby was at a meeting, so all in all a good day

Thursday

Yet another Christmas dinner today.....this one was at the age Cymru day centre where we are trustees. We help with the day to day running of the centre and have incessant meetings. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and today all the pensioners who come each day for lunch came for a lovely Christmas dinner. The mayor and mayoress came and other visiting dignatories....we booked a young lad to do entertainment afterwards and i think that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Now I hope to get some painting done and hope that we don't get snow tomorrow

Wednesday

today was the first of our Christmas dinners. We went to the old Bridge inn at llangenech...(sorry for those who can't pronounce the Welsh places...lol)
The meal was fabulous....I had turkey with, peas, sprouts, cabbage, swede,carrots, cauliflower, parsnips.....roast AND mash potatoes.....and a Yorkshire pudding....not to mention a salad starter, ice cream and there were mince pies, but I don't like those...ended with a nice cuppa !! We also went shopping. The shops were amazingly quiet....and all I got were two pairs of earrings...one purple pair (what else is there) and a pair of Christmas earrings.....
Luckily we managed to escape the rain and hailstones....

Tuesday

well...a bit of all sorts today. Woke up to strong gales that were almost shaking the house. We live at the top of a mountain and so we are very exposted. strangely , the gales only lasted for about 5 mins and then stopped. By 9 am the heavens had opened and the rain was coming down in buckets. then it stopped.....10 am we had hailstones, sleet and more heavy rain....followed by bright sunshine. More heavy rain, gales and sleets at 11.30 and now we have blue skies and sunshine...however there are black clouds heading this way.
It is quite useful living so high up because we can see the weather coming...good for dashing out to rescue the washing before it rains (not that I ever put any washing outside...lol)

I hope to actually get some more painting done later ....glad to be home indoors away for the weather

I am not sure if anyone ever reads my blog....don't get any comments.....wonder if it is worth doing......after all if I am the only one looking, I already KNOW what my paintings look like....

Friday

still quite cold today but the wind has died down now.
I decided that as I have a whole box load of promarkers it would be a good idea to use them...so I did an abstract aceo. This was fun but it was a bit difficult to get going and know which colours to put where...I did two of them and this is the second one as the first one wasn't very good. It was a good learning curve though...here is the second one..

Thursday

Today it is very windy.....fortunately we are not too bad here....but the sea is very choppy. Another good reason to stay indoors and paint. I managed to get three done today. Last night I stayed up and watched an art demo on Create and craft and that gave me the incentive to paint a snow scene this afternoon.
I also listed a painting in my Folksy shop and it was much easier today, so I am hoping that the glitches that have been plaguing the site since its relaunch are now ironed out.

Wednesday

Today my daughter decided that she would like some of my paintings and so I found my stock suddenly depleted. That made me go and paint...lol....nothing like motivation.....strange though how when you KNOW what you want to paint, the finished items never turn out as planned.
Never mind...here is the black and white one that I did yesterday on box canvas.....7x5 in size...

very cold and wet outside....apparently it snowed in Durham this morning...I am glad we live in the South....I just checked the forcast and all it said was ten days of rain....

I have had a very busy few days so haven't had the time to do my blog....apologies for that.....
Today I have spent most of the day catching up on emails that had fallen behind because we were out shopping on Thursday and Friday.....
